MONTREAL RANKED AS THE BEST CITY IN THE WORLD FOR STUDENTS
“Montreal is the best city in the world to study in, according to a report by education website The Helpful Professor.
It also highlights the city’s multiple universities (it says there are three, apparently unaware of UQAM’s existence) and two languages, with particular mention of McGill as the highest rated institution in town.
Montreal scored particularly well for its safety, the “freedom” afforded to students (as in political and civil rights) and the friendliness of its people.
Montreal received five points out of a possible 10 on affordability. (Insert grade inflation joke here.)
Ranked third in the world, Vancouver was the only other Canadian city in The Helpful Professor’s top 10. Toronto, which scored an impressive zero out of 10 on friendliness, was ranked 20th.
Montreal has a history of ranking well in cities for students. In 2019, consultancy QS Quacquarelli Symonds called it North America’s top city for students. In 2017, the same firm’s rankings deemed Montreal the world’s best city for students.
